How the idea started...

It started with the founder's attendance at the AI Action Summit and the AI Global Summit last year. After receiving negative responses from schools for her "Level 3 Autism child," she realized that the common average school was not the be-all and end-all. At the AI event, she met researchers in AI and who spoke about education; and they repeatedly said that what it is now will become obsolete so much faster than people realize. It was at that time that the idea came that we, as parents, could put the right team together to create a community for neuro-divergent kids who could grow together for the next decade, supporting each other and building a safe group of professionals and friends with the right intentions and goals. We also want to create a charity soon. I recommend listening to the Sensory Classroom podcast if you have not already.

If it doesn't exist, create it!

We could not ignore the serious lack of offers for kids like ours. We created something good, fun, and conducive to learning, something that they deserve, like everyone.

People and culture

We have put a team together from different parts of the world because we believe that a blended culture is necessary for acceptance in this big world. We also create an environment to spread the message that everyone has the right to a learning environment that suits them. Neurodiversity is fluid and ever-changing in society. Emotional support is important. Sensory needs are crucial for learning. Our people at 6 Sentidos have training from a UK-based SEN teacher, and our goal is to combine Portugal's calmness and perfect weather to create opportunities for kids on the autism spectrum to be taught in a way that suits them. We teach them life skills that support independent functioning. Child-led therapy is safe and in fact should be promoted more but these kids sometimes (almost always) are forced to conform. Our team will also support parents with training, addressing fears and challenges, and understanding how to develop the Education Health plan for the next decade.
